Hey All! Nothing like Thanksgiving to bring everyone together! I don't know how many people I talked to today who I had not seen/heard from in ages. Oh, and don't forget all the family time, with games, yelling, turkey, more games, more yelling, and dessert. Lol. It's all just so much to take in on one holiday. But I have to say, it is, by far, one of my favorite holidays.
Beyond holiday traditions I apologize as I haven't posted in awhile. I've neglected this tool for communication to the region. I'm not sure how many of you follow this blog, but if you reply, I believe you can do that... I'll know how many actually read this and if I should continue posting.
I've been quite busy lately. Traveling, gettign ready for the holidays, working on big projects for MACURH, getting presentation materials ready for Semis for Jess Knox, the most amazing GLACURH Director ever! She runs the National Recruitment & Retention Committee by the way, and I head a sub-committee for the NACURH Risk-Free Scholarship. I plan on sending an e-mail to my host school's lawyers to see if they can help me draft up a contract for those attending NACURH under the scholarship. I want this to be solid as we are a National Corporation and our conference is a service we might be providing free-of-charge, if the NBD passes this, to select students that have applied for their school to attend to see what NACURH is all about. The goal is to attract more schools through the conference experience which msot of us know and love.
Last thing for tonight, I hope all of you have a great holiday and please be safe.
Until Next Time,
Mr. S

Slacking and/or Slavework
So, I'm a little behind with the blog. I apolgize. With the rush of things it seems it's been left in the dust. I figure my ramblings of each post are crazy talk to most people anyway.
As for how things have been going, I think I've figured out the chats. We've tested them and I have found their weaknesses and how to work around those. I'll be posting the chat to the site so everyone can access it as well as posting to the region about the site.
Crazy thing, it's my parents anniversary today. Holy crap, which reminds me I need to call. lol.
The newsletter will be coming out on Sunday, Sept.7. The conference will be only two months away by that point.... *crazy!!!* The conference staff have been pretty awesome and our trying to pull everything together for Nov. It's a lot to cover and I'm proud by how far they've come.
Well I have to review my upcoming test dates...and watch Heroes Season 2. Hope everythign is going great for everyone.

Websites Everywhere!!!
Heyo MACURH!!!
It's been awhile since my last update. Since then I've called and tlaked with many of the Midwest Hall Government Presidents as well as taken on new website assignments. As of today MACURH now has a database thanks to help from the NIC. I will be working to set this up for the needs and uses planned for the website tools to come. I've also integrated the MACURH NRHH Webpage into the MACURH page as well as hunted down many old MACURH websites long past their lifespan and I terminated msot of them and linked them back to the current page if possible.
It'll be about two or three more weeks before I move back to Rolla, MO. I have been hired on as a Break RA right before school starts. They needed someone to fill in so it seems I get to move in just al ittle early before all of the crowd...which will be really nice. I'll be rooming with my Matt Hume, our new NCC and my fellow RHA Co-Chair back in the day. Hopefully we won't try to kill each other, lol. We've been through a lot so I think we'll be able to get along okay.
The summer feels like it's up and left while I wasn't looking. Already I'm working up projects and setting up programs for things at my host school where I serve as a Vice President of our Programming Student Union Board. I've also taken up the task of remaking our NRHH Shamorck Chapters Website. I think it's rpetty cool. If you want, check it out at http://www.mst.edu/~nrhh. It fought me for awhile but eventually I got the hang of things.
Well, I have no other news for you all, besides I've now seen The Dark Knight twice now. It's a great movie and I encourage all who haven't to see it. I hope you all have enjoyed your summers and if you haven't yet done so, please send me your presidents contact info. ;)

Celebrations!!!
Wooohooo!!! I just celebrated the Fourth of July for the second day in a row. It happens when you have a really big family and lots of friends to fit into your holidays. Just imagine Christmas three times every year, because it's a reality in my family. Lol.
Anyway, on to business, the next newsletter is ready and slated to go out on the 7th. I've changed the format a little and tried adding an article for more amusement purposes. We'll see how people enjoy the next edition. I'm also puting together a brochure for new schools we contact about affiliation. This brochure contains personal articles from a select few in the region about their experiences and how MACURH has effected them and their school overall. The idea is to give a more personal look into the region as well as all the information on the resources that MACURH and NACURH, Inc. can offer.
As for the website, I've fixed some links and updated little bits of info. I'm keeping up with the website basically but no new work has been done due to some stalls on information. I'm very sorry that the fixes to the website, as well as the new changes are taking so long. But until then check out the new NRHH additions to our website! Thanks to Aaron S. Baker, our RAD-NRHH, I was given permission to move the MACURH NRHH page to be hosted on the macurh.nacurh.org website. Once we get the appropriate info the old MACURH NRHH page will be taken down and redirected to it's new location. Lastly I'm also looking in to a MACURH Cheers page with Audio Cheers you can play as well as having them in a word format. Hopefully this will be a good tool as your conference delegations get pumped up and prepared for the Regional and National Conferences this coming year. ;)
I've also been added to the National Recruitment and Retention Committee and we'll be having our first chat in the following week. I'm excited to see what comes of this as well as the RCC Commission which has been writing up new legislation we discussed for the RCCs on the National level.
Presidents, we'll be looking at having our first chat around mid-august. Hoping to get everyone in the swing of things before we try to get started. Also, the RBD is still missing some contact info from schools so I want to give some time for everything to get straightened out.
Last thing to note, we are now working on affiliation and possibly have another school to add to our ranks. I'm pretty excited about our new process and to see how it benefits us as we work throughout the year to affiliate new and old schools to the region. You'll here it talked about around the RBD as the Affiliaiton Master Plan, aka the AMP. The RCCs are sending me biweekly affiliation reports so we are in constant contact. If you want to know your own affiliation status please refer to the affiliation status links on the macurh.nacurh.org website. But please note that the NIC has stated all affiliation status won't be updated until mid to late July due to the transitioning of the office to NYU.
Hope all of you are having a great summer and if you ever have any questions or just want to chat my e-mail is macurh.sp@gmail.com or you can message me on AIM at macurhrccsp. Look forward to hearing from ya!

Tanned and Watching Heroes
Okay, so I'm acutally a little sunburnt opposed to the blog title. I like the outside a little too much. After spending my first early morning running again, which hurt so bad but felt so good...lol, I fell asleep while tanning near the pool. More like lost track of time...but it's the same difference.
On another note... the show Heroes is AMAZING!!! Yes, AMAZING!!! I once didn't care but now I am a believer. I feel like I just gained a new religion... Except the man Jesus is a cheerleader named Claire who can regenerate instead of walking on water. Apparently, sh'es somehting special in the show. Heroes quote, "Save the Cheerleader, save the World."
Back to reality where my legs are sore and my chest burns... too hot for my own good, lol.
I may have the new contact page fixed here shortly. Everything I'm working on seems to be hindered by one thing... databases. *sighs* Just waiting now to hear good news really. Hopefully from here on out the website only gets better and the website will become an important resource for the region. ;)
Besides my beside lover the website, I've just been riffling through lots of old files that date my time in MACURH. Reading up on my history through the records of my past versions. In otehr words, the RCC-SP didn't always exist, it's actually a developed position from what was known as the RA-Tech. There's some other pretty neat info but I'm saving that for rainy days.
For now all I really want from all of you is article ideas. I've managed to skim through and the first Molly Moosletter but eventually I will need some help. If you ever want to write an article, have some cool ideas or what not...let me know. Maybe I can start an RBD comic. Lol. What fun we could have with that! *evil laughter ensues* MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
So, I now must rub lotion all over my red/brownish self, as to keep from peeling, and I'm going to finish my night off with Heroes Season 1. Night MACURH ;) Sleep Tight.

New Developments
So, here I am at 12:15 in the morning writing to you all through my blog.
*really need to lay off the caffeine, I have a bad addicttion to Dr. Pepper*
I'm in gym shorts and a new shirt I was given for my birthday. I'm somewhat of a comic junkie, or I used to be... lol. Was in to X-Men for a long time, on and off since I was a kid. My friend Jaqie got me a shirt with Marvel superheroes pasted all over it. I have to say, the shirt is quite soft. Makes for a good night shirt. ;)
Anyway, enough about me, more about "new developments". By now you should all have gotten a newsletter in your mailboxes. I hope you all appreciate the layout because it took forever! Lol. It's been awhile since I've done a newsletter and I was nervous about the very first installment. It's also quite large in size becasue of the graphics but I haven't really heard any complaints towards fixing that for the next issue. I really want to make the newsletter something the region can look forward too. I thinking I might even start a comedy column, somethign informative that entertains a little bit more than day to day news. I was never too excited about newspaper articles myself because they were always so boring. Nothing kept my attention. That's why I came up with the style for the new RBD Insider. Hopefully this will take off and people will come to enjoy this specific piece. It's meant to give an inside look at the RBD, allow readers to submit questions, and have a little fun.
As for other things I'm working on, the geographic RCCs and I have developed what we call the AMP, or Affilaition Master Plan. This thing took around three hours for us to dish out, pee breaks included, but it covers from head to toe how we'll deal with affiliation throughout the region. The idea is to make a specific process in which the RBD can use and evaluate. It's been approved and the first couple of documents that go with it are almost finished. Hopefully everything goes as planned and this will help take affiliation to the next level.
Next is the website. I've been trying to fix the school contact form online that I created. I originally set it up as a form that would use the users e-mail to submit the info straight to the appropriate RCC. While it did work, not everyone has an e-mail account setup and readily accessible on their computer. I'm now looking into several other options of what would be most secure.
Speaking of secure, I'm also working on building a chat room page and looking into the setup for login IDs. I couldn't have any done any of what has been accompished without the help of Matt Mitchell hailing from Missouri S&T. It's true what they say. "It's not what you know, it's who you know." It helps to have some awesome friends who excel in areas you may be lost in the dark in. Plus I have fellow RCCs throughout the nation who I can go to for help. Piece of advice, be mindful of your resources. Makes life so much easier at times. Lol.
Last, presidents, please don't worry, I will be sending more info to you soon about our regional rendevous (aka chats). I'm waiting to update the listservs once I get contact info from our wonderful RCCs who are waiting on the NCCs to respond to them. Once I've gotten everything updated, hopefully by July, we'll be good to go and you all can know what to expect from me once the fall semester starts up.
That's all I have for now. Please keep in touch and remember I love to get comments and feedback because it keeps me on my toes.

The First Entry
Hello MACURH,
As my first initial post I have quite a bit to say. I apologize in advance. ;)
I'll start off with telling you a little about myself.
My name is Jacob Wayne Sherry and I am a 20 year old college student hailing from the small town of Wright City, Missouri. I like to paint, draw, read during spare time, and run or swim during the summer. Besides these things I also serve as your RCC-Special Projects.
I find it a little hard for me to find the words to describe how our year will be together, because frankly, I don't know. My goal is that when you look back you'll realize how much we've accomplished and you see all the great experiences that you've become a part of while affilaited with MACURH.
For those of you who will be working with me (presidents, rbd members, etc.), good luck. Lol. Maybe it'll help if I describe the way I work.
1.) I prefer to be upfront, no crap. Realize that upfront does not mean the opposite of cooth. Please catch me if you notice I am being ignorant on the balance between the two.
2.) Be prepared for the unexpected. I can be pretty crazy at times and I like to keep things fun. I own a sledgehammer with obscenities on it for crying out loud! At one point my RHA did see it used as a gavel during my term as president. Oh the memories...
3.) I'm big on commitment and I don't like to be late. Being late upsets me. So much so, it causes me to drive "adventurously" through hills and backroads at the expense of others safety. Please refer to Ben White, Bethany Stafford, Renee Skau, or Tori Seely for more details.
4.) I expect a lot from those close to me and I expect no less from myself for all of you. I should be transparent, able to help find the answers to your questions, able to support you in your work, and to be there when needed.
5.) I'm not perfect, but I can't help those around me if they can't help me through my own faults to better myself for their benefit. Things take practice and experience comes through learning from mistakes.
I wrote a lot so far and if you're still with me, thank you. I hope to be informative as possible and this is one of the ways in which I will try to better communicate to the region. Look for more about the progress that has been made in the regional newsletters to come. ;)
Lastly, I'd like to send out some thanks to a few amazing people I have worked with the past few weeks.
Emily Meyer has not only built up amazing resources for the position I have taken, but she has been there through every step of the way to answer any questions I may have or help me in any way. I really appreciate it and her confidence she has given me.
My fellow RCCs (Bethany, Nick, and Maria) have been amazing to work with. Their commitment and drive has been amazing and without them, the plans I have been working on for the region would be nothing.
Ben White and Daryl Lawrence, two totally different styles but both of them great leaders to work with. The results they have obtained so far for this region and the nation have been phenomenal and deserve great respect. Thank you both for dealing with me and my insanity on whatever projects we've worked on. While I experimentally shoot from the hip they have both served as my guide rails. I'd like to compare them both to a compass for whenever I lose my sense of direction.
So, it's now 2am for me and my nap time is right around the corner. Good night MACURH, and if you ever need me you know how to get in touch.
*hint: my info is on the website so check it out...* :)
